Podcasting has been a "thing" for over a decade now, but for much of that time podcasts were primarily the domain of the geeky and the uberfan. The idea of periodic, often subscription-based content shouldn't have surprised people who grew up with magazines and episodic TV, but even now I talk to people who don't even know what podcasts are, much less how they have become mainstream in many corners . . .

Any list of games that includes Fluxx, Exploding Kittens, Happy Salmon, and Munchkin is one that we can happily get behind, and Margaret Clegg's "10 Card Games Families Love" includes those and more, making it a wonderful holiday shopping list for parents and grandparents alike. We're obviously excited to see Munchkin make the list, but we also want to be sure that you give the other games on the list a try if you've not played them before. And with the end of our holiday game day yesterday, our 2018 office hours have come to a close. Many of the team are taking next week off – as well as the first few days of January – and we're officially closed until January 2, 2019. 2018 has been a mix of successes, frustrations, and difficult decisions, and we want to thank all of you for sticking with us over the year as we adjusted our processes and schedules to better fit the new market conditions . . .

Tomorrow, the Ogre Battlefields project comes to a close, and we start to finalize the files for publication. The majority of the work is already completed; next week, we will make our final checks/corrections and then send the files to our partners at GPI (possibly as soon as the second week of January) . . .

We've been offering a few different playmat designs over the last few years (the latest Ogre playmats are now on Kickstarter, with the project closing today), and we're far from the only game publisher selling playmats to support gameplay. Over the holidays, I got lucky enough to add several of Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Imperial Assault playmats to my collection . . .

As mentioned last month, we're working to bring the Pocket Box games of the '80s back to the world. Part of the Kickstarter campaign for The Fantasy Trip included the creation of a new plastic Pocket Box, and we're happy to report that the design is complete and now being produced for the retro-style, combined Melee & Wizard game that will be released next year.
